Privacy Policy
This site is a personal archive of writing by Ted Theodoropoulos. It has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter, and no advertising. It runs analytics only if you allow it, and nothing is loaded or stored before you answer. The detail below covers what your browser reaches on the way to reading a page.
What this site collects
There is no form on this site, no login, no comment field, and no mailing list, so nothing is collected from you directly and nothing is ever asked of you.
The one thing that can be collected is analytics, and only with your permission. A banner asks once. Until you answer it, no analytics script is fetched and no cookie is set.
If you allow it, the site loads Google Analytics, which sets cookies that count your visit and record which pages you read. That data is reported into the same Google Analytics account used by Infodash, so a visit that crosses between this site and getinfodash.com is understood as one visit rather than two. Google Signals is switched off, which means your visit is not added to an advertising profile and is not used to target ads to you.
If you decline, nothing from Google is requested and no cookie is set. Declining saves a single value in your browser's local storage, so the banner does not ask again. That value never leaves your browser. If you ignore the banner entirely, nothing at all is stored.
To change your mind either way, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again.
Server logs
The site is served as static files by a hosting provider. Like nearly every web host, that provider records standard request logs, which typically include your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser's user agent string. These logs exist to deliver the site and to keep it secure and available. They are not used to identify you, are not combined with anything else, and are not sold or shared for marketing.
Third parties your browser reaches
Loading a page here requests nothing from anyone else. The typefaces, the images and the stylesheets are all served from this site, so no third party learns your IP address just because you read something. Two things change that, and each one waits for an action from you first.
Playing a podcast episode is the one exception. Pressing play on the Podcast page streams the audio from the show's hosting provider, Podetize, which receives your IP address as part of serving the file. Nothing reaches them until you press play.
Ordinary links out to LinkedIn, X, Infodash, Legal Innovation Spotlight and the podcast feed only reach those companies if you click them, at which point their policies apply rather than this one.
What is not here
To be explicit, because these are the things people reasonably assume are present: there is no advertising or retargeting pixel, no LinkedIn or Meta tracking tag, no session replay or heatmap tool, no chat widget, and no A/B testing script. Analytics, described above, runs only with your permission and has advertising features switched off. Nothing on this site shares your visit with an advertising network.
Children
This site is written for legal and technology professionals and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and it will be removed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information about you, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation. Those rights can include asking what is held about you, asking for it to be corrected or deleted, objecting to or restricting its use, asking for a copy in portable form, and opting out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
In practice this site holds no personal information about you beyond the host's standard request logs described above, so most requests will be answered by confirming that. Personal information is never sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising. Requests are answered within one month.
Changes
If what this site loads or collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. There is no version history kept, so the date at the top is the record.
